Located above McClain Flats is Starwood, Aspen’s only gated enclave that features some of the area’s largest estates on lush properties with top-of-the-world views. Former resident, John Denver, made Starwood famous through song, and Prince Bandar brought the area renown when he built a 55,000 square foot main house on his compound. Most of Starwood was developed in the 1980s and 1990s but newer, contemporary homes have been constructed in recent years.
Similar to McClain Flats, driving into Aspen from Starwood takes less than 15 minutes. With its unique setting and majestic views it is no wonder that Denver called Starwood his “sweet Rocky Mountain paradise.”
